How we measure your learning

The five levels of each word (New, Seen, Learning, Practised and Consolidated) and what earns each one.

In Efatah, finishing a lesson and learning a word are different things. The trail shows where you have been. Levels show what stayed with you.

The five levels of each word

Level How you earn it
New You have not met the word yet.
Seen The word was introduced in a lesson, or you scanned its physical card for the first time.
Learning You got the word right for the first time by recognizing it, for example in a quiz or by listening.
Practised You got the word right inside a sentence.
Consolidated You produced the word from memory (typing or dictation) and still got it right in a review a few days later.

Levels never go down

If you miss a word in a review, it comes back sooner to be asked again, but its level stays.

Where to see it

The Achievements tab shows how many words in each chapter are consolidated, for example “18 of 25 consolidated”.

Few consolidated words?

That is normal. Someone who only moves forward finishes the trail with many words at Learning or Practised. That is an honest reading, not a failure. The reviews inside lessons are what carry words to Consolidated.

Completed and test-validated sections

Sections have states of their own. Soon, with the advance test, a section can be Validated by test, which is not the same as a Consolidated word. See section states.
