Voices and audio speed

Choose between the natural voices and the device voice, and set the normal and slow (Turtle) speeds.

Every word, sentence and verse can be heard in the language you are learning.

Voices

In Settings › Audio › Voice you can choose:

• two natural voices, one male and one female, recorded for each language;
• Device voice, your phone’s own synthesized voice, which needs no download.

The male voice is the default. Each option has a preview; previewing does not switch the voice.

Speed

In Settings › Audio › Speed there are two controls:

• Normal: starts at 1.0×, from 0.8× to 1.5×.
• Turtle (the slow speed): starts at 0.7×, from 0.5× to 0.9×.

Both move in 0.1× steps and also apply to the device voice.

Offline

Audio for what you will study in the next few days is already on your device. If a clip has not arrived yet, the device voice speaks instead, without stopping the lesson. Switching voice re-downloads only the next days’ audio and any chapters you chose to keep offline.
